It happens to all of us, when we feel the stresses of life coming down on us. Whether it’s from working too much or too busy with all the daily necessities, we can get bored and unmotivated with our day-to-day life. Here’s some simple tips on staying inspired and remembering how much this beautiful world has to offer us!
First thing is to take care of ourselves. We won’t have enough energy for all of our day if we don’t first take care of our health.
1- Drink Water! This may seem like an obvious tip for our survival, but often times we don’t drink enough water to keep us hydrated for the day.
2- Eat High Vibration foods! Foods such as organic nuts, fruit, vegetables and fresh herbs that have high vibrational energy and nutrients to keep us awake and ready for our day. We can raise our own energy vibration with these foods and connect ourselves better to nature. Keep to a minimum foods such as highly process foods, microwaved, chemically altered or genetically altered (GMO)
3- Sleep Well! Often times we can feel overwhelmed and burnt out if we are not sleeping enough during the night. Remember to try to sleep early and get a good night’s rest to prepare yourself for the day.
4- Keep your areas clean! It’s always good to keep our rooms and workspaces clean. When we have our things all over the place, it can feel like our thoughts in our mind are all over the place. So keeping ourselves organized helps us keep our thoughts organized.
Secondly, we must always keep our brains stimulated. When we get bored, instead of watching TV or spending time on Facebook, it’s best to do something that engages our mind rather than deteriorate it.
5- Do something you love// It’s easy to become a slave to our work and forget that we aren’t doing things that we love. Even if we enjoy our work and perhaps love our work, it’s always good to try to fit in a little break to do something that we love- not work related! It could be as simple as reading a book, going for a bike ride or even rock climbing up a mountain. A healthy balance between work and play is what we need, to keep ourselves motivated.
6- Learn something new // We’re never too old to learn something new. Maybe there is something you have always wanted to do and never took the time to figure it out. It could be learning how to sing or dance, how to play an instrument or how to paint. When we learn a new skill, we strengthen connections between parts of the brain, keeping your brain sharp.
7- Exercise // Whether it’s doing yoga or going for a run, keeping our bodies active impacts our brain and keeps our mind active as well. Exercise improves the memory and allows an increase in blood flow to the hippocampus (the area of the brain most directly affected by Alzheimer’s disease).
Finally, we must take time for ourselves. It’s so easy to get lost in the flow of work and extra-curricular activities, we must not forget that spending alone time for ourselves is also necessary.
8- Meditate// Spending as little as 15 minutes a day in a silent meditation can do so much. It can make us less anxious and more patient to take on the day. It may be difficult to start or maintain a daily practice of meditation but it’s always good to try to meditate in times when you feel overwhelmed. It’s a natural alternative to anti-anxiety medication.
9- Be in Nature// If you’re living in a city, it’s easy to get lost in it’s natural fast hustle. When we get closer to nature, whether it’s untouched wilderness or a backyard tree, our mental performance improves. Not only that but being around nature also lowers our stress and provides us with a sense of calmness and security.
10- Express Gratitude// Finally, the most important thing to remember is to be grateful for all that we have. If we are too stressed out from work, we should be grateful that we at least have a job. If we are so bored or unmotivated, we should remember all the people in the world that have less than we do. In any moment where we feel that we’re just not too happy with the circumstances that we are in, always take a step back and reflect. Keep a positive outlook and be thankful for all that we do have and not on the things we wish we could have or don’t have. Always remember that things are temporary and they don’t stay the same for too long. Be appreciative of each step of your journey. <3
