In a previous post we discussed the power of mantras and how they can be used to set an intention. Today we’re going to talk about how we can use positive affirmations as mantras in our lives. What is an affirmation? It’s basically anything you think or say.
We have already mentioned that mantras direct our energies (prana) to what we believe in. Therefore, we should believe, think and speak in a positive way if we want to change our lives. We are living in times where people are starting to wake up and realize that our thought patterns create our experiences. We have to diminish any limiting beliefs that we have about ourselves and the world around us, if you want to create the very life that you want. Therefore, pay attention to your thoughts and the way that you think and feel.
If you feel that life isn’t giving you the things you want, then it’s for sure that you will never receive the things you want from it. If you tell yourself that you cannot do something or that something is impossible, then for sure, you will never be able to achieve that feat. But, if you can change your thoughts to positive affirmations like “I will achieve this goal” or “I can achieve this goal”, you will see in time that life will give you the things you desire, based on your belief system.
To clarify, positive affirmations also work much stronger than affirmations of hope. Rather than thinking “I hope I can do this” or “I hope I can get there”, change the “I HOPE” to “I CAN” or “I WILL”. It is also important to think on the things that you DO want rather than the things that you DON’T want. Focus your attention, thoughts and words on things that you wish to happen in your life because sometimes, life hands to you the very thing you are exactly thinking of – regardless if you wanted it or not. For example “I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow, I really don’t want it to rain, if it rains it will ruin my plans etc.” and if you realize in these words you have said RAIN RAIN RAIN three times. The next day? What happens? It RAINS. Instead you could change these thoughts to something more positive. Something like “It will be sunny tomorrow, tomorrow will be a great and sunny day and things will go smoothly” and the end result will more likely be a smooth and sunny day than not.
How to use positive affirmations as mantras?
Choose an affirmation that you resonate with and use it as your mantra. You may use it for your daily meditation as you repeat the statement in your mind, over and over again. The more you allow the words to sink into your being, to sink into your heart, you become them. Words such as:
“The Universe provides for me and always gives me just what I need.”
“I am abundant. I am abundant in love, health and money.”
“Creativity flows through me and this creativity leads me to brilliant ideas.”
“I am infinite. My potential is infinite. Anything is possible.”
“I am blessed. I am happy and healthy. My family is happy and healthy.”
An affirmation can be a statement of anything that you want. The important thing is to believe in what you are thinking and saying. Let go of any negativity and focus your energies on positivity. Breathe deeply and allow your mantra/affirmation to sink deep into every fiber of your being. Let your actions also be aligned with your words. Remember that you are a blessed, unique, all-powerful being capable of creating the very life you wish to have. Be truthful, be real, be kind to others and most importantly be kind to yourself as well. The universe is on your side, believe that it wants you to achieve your dreams as much as you do. <3
